Abstract Marine invertebrates serve as rich sources of secondary metabolites with intriguing chemical diversities and a wide spectrum biological activities. Particularly, marine shell-less sacoglossan mollusks have attracted much attentions due to the fact that apply complex defense agents against their predators. With purpose discovering bioactive develop marine-derived medicines from South China Sea, we conducted study on photosynthetic mollusk Placobranchus ocellatus. As result, seven new γ -pyrone polypropionates, namely ( ±)-ocellatuspyrone A 1 ), B 2 ocellatuspyrones C−G 5 , 9 − 12 along five known been isolated characterized Sea ocellatus . Extensive spectroscopic analysis, single crystal X-ray diffraction modified Mosher’s method, ECD comparison, CD exciton chirality TDDFT-ECD calculation, conversion were used determine structures absolute configurations compounds stereochemistry undefined 4 6 7 All these polypropionates evaluated in bioassays for activities, including antibacterial, neuroprotective effect, anti-inflammatory, PTP1B inhibitory, antiviral Compounds 8 11 found first time show antibacterial activity fish pathogenic bacteria Streptococcus parauberis (the main pathogen causing streptococcal infections acute death) MIC values 35.8, 34.2, 37.4 μg/mL, respectively, which might be potential novel treatment infectious diseases.
